While history and legend may seem like two distinct categories,the reality is that they often intersect in interesting and unexpected ways.

One common way in which history and legend intersect is through the creation of legends inspired by historical event.

For example,the legend of king arthur is thought to have been inspired by a real life king who ruled over britain in the 5th or 6th century.
