RATIONAL __2nd june

People often say we should always be rational, that every decision should be based on logic instead of emotions. While I agree that reasoning is important, I have also learned that life isn't always that straightforward.

There have been moments when my heart wanted one thing while my mind argued for another. Choosing a course to study, deciding who to trust, or even managing my time during exams all required rational thinking. Looking back, the choices I made after carefully weighing the pros and cons usually brought better results than the ones I made out of panic or excitement.

Being rational doesn't mean ignoring your feelings. It means allowing your emotions to speak but letting your mind make the final decision. Emotions can alert us to what matters, but logic helps us determine the best path forward.

As a university student, I constantly remind myself to stay calm before making important decisions. Whether it's handling academic pressure, friendships, or future career plans, taking a moment to think things through has saved me from many regrets.

At the same time, I believe that being overly rational can make life feel mechanical. Sometimes kindness, compassion, and faith cannot be explained with pure logic, yet they are what make us human.

For me, the best approach is finding a balance. Think carefully, consider the consequences, listen to your heart, but don't let emotions drive the entire journey. Rational thinking is not about being cold—it's about making wise decisions that your future self will appreciate.
