5 HABITS THAT KEEPS ME 100% SCAM-FREE ON MY PHONE

I used to think “I’m too smart to get scammed.”
Then I almost clicked a fake SBI link at 11 PM because I was tired and in a rush.

That night taught me: scams don’t target dumb people. They target distracted people.

Since then, I’ve built 5 simple habits. Zero apps, zero cost. Just discipline.
These have kept my UPI, WhatsApp, and email clean for 8 months:

1. The 10-Second Rule
   Before I click any link or reply to any “urgent” message, I wait 10 seconds.
   Ask: “Was I expecting this?” If no, I close it. Scammers need you to act fast.

2. I Never Share OTPs - Not Even to “Customer Care”
   Real customer care will never ask for your OTP.
   If someone says “Sir, I’m from your bank, tell me OTP to verify”, I hang up immediately.

3. I Use a Separate UPI ID for Unknown Sites
   My main UPI ID only goes to Amazon, Swiggy, trusted places.
   For random sites, I use a secondary UPI ID with ₹0 balance. Even if it’s fake, they get nothing.

4. I Check the Link Before I Click
   Long press the link. If it’s not .gov.in, .in, or a brand’s official domain, I don’t open it.
   “flipkart-offer.co” is not Flipkart. That’s the easiest red flag.

5. I Tell My Family About New Scams
Every time I see a new scam on WhatsApp or Twitter, I forward it to my mom and uncle with a 1-line warning.
Most scams work because families don’t talk about them.

Scams are like mosquitoes. You can’t kill all of them, but you can use a net.
