Daily monomad challenge // Exposiciones Station (ENG-ESP)

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge 🖤

I've always believed metro stations aren't just places we pass through. Some, like Exposiciones Station in Medellín, have their own personality—like they're telling a story in every wall, every structure, and every sound you hear as the train arrives.

Siempre he creído que las estaciones de metro no son solo lugares de paso. Algunas, como la estación Exposiciones del metro de Medellín, tienen una personalidad propia, como si contaran una historia en cada pared, en cada estructura y en cada sonido que se escucha mientras pasa el tren.

From the moment you arrive, you feel you're in a unique space. The station is located in a key area: between downtown Medellín and the south of the city. Its name isn't a coincidence; it sits right in front of the "Palacio de Exposiciones" (Exhibition Palace), an important venue for fairs, culture, and business events. That influences its design: spacious, functional, and made to handle large crowds.

Desde que llegas, sientes que estás en un espacio diferente. La estación está ubicada en una zona clave: entre el centro de Medellín y el sur de la ciudad. Su nombre no es casualidad; está justo al frente del Palacio de Exposiciones, un lugar muy importante para eventos, ferias y cultura. Esto influye directamente en su diseño: amplio, funcional y pensado para recibir a muchas personas al mismo tiempo.

What stands out the most to me is how the architecture mixes concrete, glass, and metal in a simple yet effective way. It’s not luxurious, but it doesn’t feel cold either. It’s a structure built to last, to serve, and to live in rhythm with the city. The high ceilings let in natural light during the day, giving the space a warm and lively feel.

Lo que más me llama la atención de su arquitectura es cómo combina concreto, vidrio y metal de forma sencilla pero eficiente. No hay lujos innecesarios, pero tampoco es un espacio frío. Es una estructura pensada para durar, para servir, pero también para convivir con el ritmo acelerado de la ciudad. Los techos altos permiten que la luz natural entre durante el día, y eso le da un aire muy vivo y cálido al lugar.

One of my favorite parts is the view. From the station, you can see Medellín’s urban life: cars, motorcycles, people walking, and in the background, the beautiful mountains. It makes you feel part of a city that never stops, yet knows how to breathe.

Otro detalle que me encanta es cómo desde la estación puedes ver una parte del paisaje urbano de Medellín. Ver pasar los carros, las motos, la gente caminando, y al fondo las montañas, te hace sentir parte de una ciudad que nunca se detiene, pero que también sabe respirar.
