Happy Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns!

I made these lanterns at my pottery class. Just on time for Halloween!

The making process took much time. I think it was about two months. It's because, the clay modeling takes time and then I have to make an appointment for the oven burning and then painting, and at last another oven burning appointment, the final one. I enjoyed the process anyway.

Clay making. It looks like this at first. This is my friend preparing the clay, and she's my assistant as well.

The first step. Modeling and curving. It's the most difficult part.
Sometimes it gets me frustrated if the clay brakes. It must be constantly wet and soft.

I'm finished modeling and crafting. The next step is the hot, actually the crazy hot, maybe even the hottest oven ever! ... And burn it nicely! BTW the oven is huge and really hot. I saw it!

After it goes through the oven, I can start painting. The pottery is still weak so I must be careful not to chip off any small but important part.

It went well. Like this below. Pretty nice colors I thought.

I used red clay. There are two types that my sensei told me they have. I prefer the lighter red. It looks nicer. I hoped the colors would stay the same as they looked on these photos above. But that didn't happen. Although, I used clear coating and oven temperature favorable, marked it with "OF", the colors changed darker.

If you don't know what means "OF" and "RF", never mind, I am already a bit pro here. :)

The second oven baking resulted in this below. Brace yourself and don't get tooooo scared please. Booo!

I can put mini tea candle in all of them. I tried, it looked okay.
