Genus oxyopes
Oxyopes is a genus of lynx spiders found worldwide. This genus includes about 300 species and belongs to the family Oxyopidae. Like other members of the lynx spider group, Oxyopes are easily recognized by their six larger eyes arranged hexagonally on the top of their heads (prosoma), with two smaller eyes in front. They are also characterized by fine, barbed hairs (seta) on their legs. They are ambush predators, actively hunting prey with their eyesight. Although they produce and use silk, they do not spin webs to catch prey.
