Hive music festival week 163 round 1: Cerati - Artefacto (cover) [ENG/ESP]

Good evening! How are you? I'm tired and my back hurts, but I still feel like singing and playing music no matter what. I spend my time remembering, forgetting, and rediscovering concepts, ideas, people, characteristics, realities, and, of course, music too. A few days ago, I started listening to some Cerati songs that didn't really grab me, and as always, I had a flashback, rediscovering memories of when my mom used to play “Artefacto” at full volume in the house.

I realized that Cerati's songs, especially those from the album “Siempre es hoy,” gave me a strange but comforting abstract feeling. Well, if I start to delve into my mind's reactions to the stimuli of the world and how it connects one thing to another, I would never get out of the mess. But anyway, the point is that I remembered this song and have been listening to it a lot these days, until today I decided to play it on the guitar and learn it. I lowered it a semitone so it wouldn't be so uncomfortable for me, but it's not that much of a difference.

I think that the song, like many other songs by Cerati, talks about sensuality, attraction, and desire linked to some poetic and “profound” phrases with encrypted language. It's like putting phrases that can mean several things; a couple of words can lead to many references and concepts, which is something we composers do frequently. For example, in that chorus that says “it's a happier omen,” he may be talking about the relationship of enjoyment and desire he is having, and how he is sure that it will end in an intimate encounter due to intuition and some obvious signs. You know when we're heading for that xD. But it could also refer to something else, like, I don't know, enthusiasm or the vision of a bright future, the security and goals that give us encouragement. I don't know, in the end, it's something only the songwriter knows.

Buenas noches! ¿Como estás? Yo estoy cansado y con dolor de espalda, pero, las ganas de cantar y tocar como sea no se me han quitado todavía. Yo me la paso recordando, olvidando y redescubriendo conceptos, ideas, personas, características propias, realidades, y por supuesto, música también. Hace unos días, me puse a escuchar algunas canciones de Cerati que no me atrapaban tanto, y como siempre, tuve una rebobinacion, reencontrándome con recuerdos de cuando mi mamá ponía "Artefacto" a todo volumen en la casa.

Me di cuenta de que las canciones de Cerati, sobre todo las de el álbum "siempre es hoy" me causaban un sentimiento abstracto bastante extraño pero reconfortante, bueno, si me pongo a adentrarme en las reacciones de mi mente ante los estímulos del mundo y como esta liga una cosa con otra, jamás saldría del enredo. Pero bueno, el punto es que recordé esta canción y la estuve escuchando mucho estos días, hasta que hoy decidí sacarla en guitarra y aprenderla. Le baje un semitono, para que no me quedara tan incómoda, no es tanta la diferencia.

Creo que la canción, como muchas otras canciones de Cerati, habla de la sensualidad, la atracción y el deseo ligadas a algunas frases poéticas y "profundas" con lenguaje encriptado, es como poner frases que pueden decir varias cosas, un par de palabras pueden desembocar en muchas referencias y conceptos, es algo que hacemos frecuentemente los compositores. Por ejemplo, en ese estribillo que dice "es un presagio más feliz" a lo mejor habla de la relación de disfrute y deseo que esta teniendo, y como el tiene la seguridad de que va a concluir en un encuentro íntimo debido a la intuición y a algunas señales evidentes, uno sabe cuando vamos para esa xD. Pero, también puede referirse a otra cosa, como no se, el entusiasmo o la visión de un futuro brillante, la seguridad y los objetivos que nos dan aliento, no lo sé, al final solo es algo que sabe el que escribe la canción.
