I recently stumbled upon this neat project called First Context while browsing Hive where @starkerz replied my comment with some details about First Context, and I got pretty excited about it. It's still in its beta phase but it feels like a genuine step forward in connecting everyday Web2 content (like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc) and into Hive blockchain world.

So, What's First Context All About?

Basically it's like a smart signal inbox or context builder for creators. You can take links from regular internet platforms and create a permanent on-chain "First Context" for them on their content. This helps bring creators with their work and all the important details into one spot where the community can discover, follow, support and interact with them.

The process is surprisingly simple even for beginners like me:

• Copy the link of a YouTube video or short.
• Paste it into the "Thoughts On Chain" section on the First Context website.
• Mark it as "Correct."
• Then hit "Add a Signal" and fill out a quick form with some details about the content.
• That's it! You get your own First Context page.

Why I Think This is Worth Checking Out

We've all seen how big Web2 platforms control our content and data. Hive is the opposite if you know it's owned by the community and resistant to censorship and actually rewards people for creating and curating good stuff. First Context makes the jump from one world to the other much easier. You can find everything about a creator in one place you can see their work across platforms and support them directly on Hive.

It's especially cool for smaller creators or people just starting out. No need for fancy tech skills @starkerz the guy behind First Context (and the one who came up with this brilliant idea) has been actively guiding the community and sharing tutorials to make it accessible for everyone.

My Honest Thoughts

What I really like is how practical and human it feels. You're not just passively watching a short video anymore you're adding real context into it, signals and helping to build something bigger on the blockchain. It could give everyday creators more visibility and a chance to earn with their content.

Since it's still beta now's a great time to jump in to experiment and help to shape it. I tried it myself with a couple of videos and it was fun and straightforward.
