Swapping Splinterlands For Silver Coin.
I had been playing Splinterlands since its beta stage and I have to admit I had a blast with the game in the beginning. But after a long time and a number of changes that sorta took the enjoyment out of grinding on the game I decided to call it quits as a game to hold large value in, and reduce my deck down to just for the occasional match set up.
I began to see the NFT's in the game as sorta overvalued, and it morphed into more of a bot mining meets small pond numbers of players so I was out. The numbers just weren't big enough for me to continue to hodl on really. It was also becoming apparent from the clicks, bots, and many other changes that what many see as the games strengths will probably be it's down fall. Well... not down fall.. It may have a hey day yet. But it looks like it will eventually drift into obscurity and not be a game changer or product that brings block chain gaming to the normies out there. I sorta hope I'm wrong there in truth as I know a lot of people heavily invested in the game and I'd like them to do well out of it. It's just not for me as a thing to hold a lot of value in any longer.
However I do still muck about with other NFT's like Doctor Who Worlds Apart, and Alien Worlds. But the whole idea of going into more NFT investment for gaming purposes seemed sorta silly. I don't see NFT buying as investment as much as I do it for fun. In reality I hold enough NFT clutter and there is the fact that it's a craze that will eventually come to an end. It's already a bit kooky and frothy at the moment as it stands. So as I've always been bullish on silver and gold I figured a portion of my Splinterlands sale could go into some Royal Mint silver. It's always going to be hard to beat value you can hold in your hand.
I went for the one ounce coins as they are just better for barter purposes if that's ever required. There's also the fact that its legal tender so there's no CGT when I decide to sell. Over the years I have collected small one ounce bars from time to time that I still hold, but mainly aimed at gold for those purposes. Silver just can't can't be beat for the lighter more flexible feeling it brings.
Well that's it for this post. Just a quickie really on taking something sorta fun off the Hive block chain and converting part of it into something you can hold. I've never posted in these tags before so it's a first. Though from looking at the precious metal stack community here, I think I'll be doing a lot more posts in the near future as I'm a bit of a gold and silver bug. If you made it this far thanks for giving the post a read, and looking forward to checking out your awesome posts and projects.
