State of preparedness
Daycare centres and schools organise various types of drills for students to understand and be prepared for certain emergency situations. These drills are mandatory and could be life saving.
There are the fire, tornado and active shooter drills and while beneficial to young children, these drills could also be traumatic for them.
The kiddo used to be so alarmed and frightened when a tornado drill is announced. He would beg his mama to let him stay at home on the day of drill. Fortunately, he is now aware that these drills are vital for him to stay safe.
Personally, whenever I hear a tornado alarm, I get a strange discomfort in my stomach especially if I am outdoors.
