The Caffeine Creed

I believe in one sacred brew,

of coffee beans almighty:

bringer of insight and thought,

and of lavish mornings and sleepless nights.

And in the liquid consciousness,

the only begotten beverage of roasted beans,

begotten of the Ethiopian plant before all plants;

Bean of bean,

roast of roasts,

luscious cup after luscious cup;

brewed,

and never steeped,

being of one substance with the sacred bean,

by which all cups were made.

Caffeine,

for all who need concentration. Deliberation.

Ambrosia rained from the heavens
and was incarnate of holy thought and gleaming enlightenment.

it was made a beverage;

and consumed by writers great: Voltaire and Balzac;

Beans were ground and were brewed;

by the third cup, brewed again.

according to the recipes descended from the heavens.

The cup sits at the left hand of the table.

We shall drink again, with glory,

to wake the brilliant and the lame;

and beans shall have no end.
