To Know the World, You Must Step Outside .
My father often says that to know the world, you have to go out on the road because he has traveled to all the departments and almost all the upazilas of our country. Because of that, whenever we go somewhere, we know the easiest way to get there. However, when I was a child, I used to hear this but I didn't fully understand it because my world was a very small house, sometimes going to the market, and sometimes going out with my friends. I myself didn't go out much, it seemed like everything I needed to know was in this small space.
But with time, especially after entering the working life, I started to realize how big the world really is, and how little we know. Now almost every day I have to go to new places and mix with new people. I am facing many experiences that I could not have imagined before.
An incident from a few days ago is very special to me. The year is 2026, the era of modernity, yet I had to go to a place where there are still dirt roads and the only way to travel is by van. When I reached there, it was 3 pm. The environment was completely unfamiliar and I couldn't find any vans around. Finally, I started walking.
While walking, suddenly a stranger came with a bicycle and said, Sir, sit down, I will give you a little more. I was surprised but trusting in his sincerity, I sat down. After going some distance, he went on his way and I started walking again. I found a small shop in the middle of the road, sat there and had something to eat and rest for a while. After about 20 minutes, I suddenly saw my supervisor coming down that road with a van.
This whole incident may not be a big deal, but it is a big lesson for me. Because if I had stayed at home, I would never have had this experience. Help from a stranger, the feeling of an unknown path, handling a situation in your own way, these things can only be learned when you go out on the road.
I think many of us think what will happen if we go out? Not now, we will go out later. In this way, we keep ourselves confined within a small boundary. But honestly, the world is very big and to know this world, we have to go outside that boundary.
You may not have a job now or you may not have to go out every day. However, if you go out and walk, go to new places, talk to new people, you will find that you learn a lot that you can never learn from books or the internet. There may be some experiences that you will remember for the rest of your life.
Life never stands still. People's situations, times, and circumstances all change. So we also have to be ready to accept the new. And that preparation comes from being out on the road, from real-life experiences.
