Life after school
I could remember back in school when we always said that it's going to be easy after school. I could remember how we are so eager to be graduates of the university just because school is too tedious. You know, when we were in school, our parents still found a way to find money for us based on the fact that they thought it wasn't easy to be a student, and yeah, we think it's going to be like that forever.
Life after school is another story entirely. At some point, you will wish to go back to school because, after you graduate from school and everyone knows you are a graduate, you will have to face the reality of life. People will start expecting what they did for you, so you can pay them in return. No one will want to know how you are surviving now, especially if you are someone who's not living with your parents anymore. Even your parents will expect you to do something good for them.
But the fact about it is that it ain't easy at all after the university. I was talking to a friend some weeks ago, and she told me about how she is living her life after school. Now she explained how hard things look now.
To survive in my country, education is not the only key. Yeah, education is very important, but it's not something we can just rely on to survive all situations. You know, when I was in college, I was so smart that I learned phone engineering, both hardware and software. Although almost everyone mocked me then, I wasn't shy. I had known for a long time that education alone could not sustain me. Even in the university, I kept doing my engineering work and earning money from it, and that's what sustained me till I graduated.
After my graduation, before I fall back on my engineering work, I try writing proposals to schools and see if there can be available work. I spend a lot of money printing and doing lots of things, but everything does not go well. Now my point is that if I do not have anything to fall back on, how will I survive?
I had to fall back on my engineering work and have a shop, and to God be the glory, everything was working well. My point of view is that it's not easy to survive without having particular skills. You might think it's useless, but then nothing is useless.
It was in my shop that I got to know about Hive, and I grabbed it immediately. Today, I've been on Hive for more than a year. I left my job a couple of months ago so I could serve my father as a graduate. Now the only thing I depend on presently is Hive. I imagine I do not take Hive seriously then.
Life isn't easy, but we should make sure we seize all the opportunities that come our way. Anytime I think about life after school, it's always scary without a skill or something that will give you money to survive.
It's going to be another story entirely about how life will be after my service because presently we are collecting salaries, and once we are done with service, the salary will stop. Either way, I've got something in mind, and I hope it works out.
