Cat Domestication
So in this post I try to explain some competing theories on cat domestication. Every expert in the field seems to agree based on their findings that they came from a common ancestry, and that the domestication of the cat began with the felis silvestris lybic (which is the wildcat). And that they were first domesticated in Egypt, or around that region. We can trace the ancestry of the cat back to these regions, and nowhere else. There are some strong evidences in anthropology and through DNA on how cats spread throughout the world as postulated by the findings of Claudio Ottoni who made a major contribution to the history of domesticated cat origins. V.J. Crossley found based on various factors, certain cats are more prone to hyperthyroidism for non-shorthaired domesticated purebreds, and I do recommend reading up on both of their findings, as it gives us a good idea of how cats spread across the world and are now everywhere. W.P. Brown's research showed that there's a good chance we selected cats for domestication, when putting together all the previous studies, rather than letting it come about naturally like with the dog. So the selection of the more suitable breeds of cat is one competing theory among experts.
