It is the right time and season for planting bambaranuts and this year we won't be missing out of growing this particular crop.
Bambaranuts are rich in protein and an important crop like peanuts and beans. We often use/prepare this locally for consumption in various forms. It is one of the staples that is rich in protein as much as beans and whenever I'm in need of beans meals and cannot get, this is usually a perfect substitute.

Just yesterday I was showing off this crop to a younger generation but they cannot identify the plant or what the seeds look like. It is not really surprising as most of our Newmen and gentle ladies do not engage in farming, they prefer to eat the finished products sold at the malls, most of them are missing out of these kinds of healthy local diet we are enjoying.

The best time for planting bambaranuts is anytime within the months of July go August, if you are looking forward to some great yield, this is the right time to plant this crop.

The soil requirements are those similar to both groundnuts and beans. Beans often produce their foods in pods, visible on the top/leaves of the plants but bambaranuts and groundnut/peas are root bearers, they produce their food/nuts at the root of the plant.
For all crops that produce their food at the root, it is hence a necessary rrquiremt for the land to be cultivated before planting, this will enable the plants to grow its roots into a soft ground for better food production.

Planting style us basically thesame method like that of groundnuts, two seeds per hole and at specific interval.

This current one that has germinated were planted using that methods.
This is the first section of the nuts that my daddy had planted about a week ago. While I have been preparing to plant gather more seeds for planting. In the previous year we had missed out of growing this and what was planted didn't do much hence we decided to plant this promptly and timely in order to be successful with it this time around.

Before now I had felt like I could grow certain crops specially for commercial purpose but oftentimes I have to assist with the family farm work as well. I'm looking forward to the time I will become independent and have my own farms as a personal job for commercial growing of crops.
