Who Then Do We Vote For?

I want to ask this question that has been sitting heavy in my mind. Especially with the elections approaching. "Who Do We Actually Vote For? Because it seems they all look the same.

It's been raining for few days and I took the above picture. This road looked like what was going to be fixed long time ago, because I saw saw some contractors on it few months ago, but all of a sudden I stopped seeing them. And it wasn't raining season yet. Now raining season has caught up with it and it has become so bad that I always pity any vehicle that passes through it.

Both drivers and pedestrians are really suffering this season because of poor nature of most of our roads yet we voted for some individuals who promised heaven on earth yet nothing to show for it. Every election season, some individuals comes around promising what they would do for the people yet nothing happens at the end. And my question is "Who then should we vote for? when these keep happening . Are we voting for the one with the loudest campaign posters, or the one that share rice and money during elections. The one whose face is everywhere during elections but his office we can't find once the election is over.

Should there be a law of penalty or impeachment if they fail to do all they promised? Maybe it will quicken up their spirit to do the right thing. I might not have the power to fix the roads but I have the power to vote, and this time around, I want to do it with my eyes wide open. Not swayed by noise , not swayed by handouts , but by asking myself'" who has really shown they care about the people.

I'll be watching closely as this election season unfolds. I encourage everyone reading this to ask the same question before they thumbprint that ballot.
