When Today Becomes A Memory
Have you ever looked at an old photograph and find yourself smiling over something that once seemed completely ordinary.
It makes me wonder how many moments we're living right now that will one day become memories we wish we could revisit. We often believe that best memories are created during major milestones like weddings, graduations and promotions. While those milestones are unforgettable, majority of our lives are made up of ordinary mornings, family routines and conversations we hardly think about. These little moments are the ones that stays with us the longest.
There was a time someone was simply part of my everyday life. Seeing him, hearing his voice and watching him go about his daily routine felt so normal that i never stopped to think that those moments could one day disappear.
Since he died, I have come to realize that those moments we shared were not just ordinary.
The conversation I thought we could always continue, the times we sat together and even the simple fact that he was there, are now memories I now hold close to my heart.
If I had known that those moments would become so precious to me, I would have paid more attention.
Now I wish I could relive one ordinary moment with him, not anything special, just a regular day.
Loosing him changed the way I see time. The truth is that the people we love will not always be there and the moments we share with them don't stay in the present forever. One day they will quietly become memories.
Perhaps that's why gratitude is very important.
Not because everything is perfect, but because one day everything will be different.
Children will become adults, Friends will move away, Homes will change, even we, will change . So we don't need to postpone our joy or wait for the so called big moments. Every little moments should be appreciated because today's conversation may become stories, today's friends will become memories and today will become a memory.
