The Chilling Tradition: A Sea Plunge to Welcome 2025

To kick off 2025, I joined friends and family for a New Year’s tradition: plunging into the icy sea. It’s a way to wash away the past year’s bad #omens and start fresh. While many people do this with big groups, for us, it was a small, personal challenge shared together.

This tradition has been around for centuries, with roots in old purification rituals across Europe. Today, it’s become a symbol of renewal, and despite the freezing cold and high winds, we were determined to take part.

The beach was windy and bitterly cold. Waves crashed against the shore, and the icy wind cut right through us as we stood there, wrapped in layers, trying to keep warm. We joked nervously to distract ourselves, but as soon as we counted down, there was no turning back.

Running into the water was like charging into a wall of ice. The freezing waves hit hard, making us gasp for breath. The high winds only made it worse, but somehow, the shock turned into pure adrenaline. We shouted and laughed as we dove in, feeling alive despite the cold.

Afterward, we scrambled back to the shore, grabbing towels and jackets as our teeth chattered uncontrollably. But the cold didn’t matter anymore. We felt lighter, refreshed, and ready to take on the #newyear.

It’s a simple tradition, but it’s powerful. Facing the cold together brought us closer and made stepping into #2025 feel like a fresh start. Here’s to new beginnings, resilience, and braving life’s challenges head-on.
