Driverless cars are 6.7 times safer than cars driven by humans.
Waymo claims that their driverless cars are much safer than cars with a human behind the wheel. The statistics collected after driving 7 million kilometers clearly prove that this is the case. During the 7.14 million kilometers driven, there were only 3 collisions with injuries. Tesla also claims that their autopilot causes far fewer accidents than humans, but Tesla does not disclose the data on which it bases such claims. With Waymo, all data is public. Autonomous cars have been heavily criticized lately, but the data revealed by Waymo shows that software for autonomous cars is making great progress, and their popularization can drastically reduce the number of collisions on the roads. Would you like to drive such a car? I do.
