Norman Vincent Peale was born on May 31, 1898, in Bowersville, Ohio. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Boston University -School of Theology. Vincent Pele began in 1935 the longest-running radio show, The Art of Living. It lasted for 54 years.

He is well known for his best-selling work The Power of Positive Thinking. Other works on motivational themes include: The Art of Living, A Tough-Minded Optimist, and Inspiring Messages for Daily Living. During his life he was author, orator and pastor. He was a close friend of President Richard Nixon.

For 52 years he was a pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York. Also, on March 26, 1984, President Ronald Regan granted Norman Vincent Peale, the Presidential Medal of Freedom (the highest civilian distinction), for his contributions to theology. He died on December 24, 1993, at the age of 95.
