A stolen sunbeam [EN/PT]

Mimi is my neighbor's cat and the archenemy of my dog, Margot. They do not get along very well for obvious reasons, and Mimi has the curious habit of enjoying her precious sunshine very close to where Margot also likes to soak up the morning sun. As you can see in the photos, the sunlight chooses a small patch of the backyard to shine on and, well, sometimes things get out of control. A ray of sunshine has never been so fiercely contested around here, especially during winter.

Mimi, although she is not exclusively ours, is very dear to us, just like our neighbor, who is a very kind elderly lady. Mimi is her companion since she lives alone and, just as Mimi visits us regularly, we also make a point of stopping by to chat with our neighbor whenever we can.

But, well, mornings have taken on a very special meaning for pets everywhere, and it is quite interesting to see how they seem to have an almost instinctive pleasure in simply staying there and enjoying that little moment. These photos were taken this week when I was coming back from the gym and, at that moment, since I had left the doors closed before going out, Margot, my dog, was still inside the house. So Mimi made the most of those last moments of sunshine before Margot showed up around there!

Mimi é a gata da minha vizinha e a arqui-inimiga da minha cadela, a Margot. Elas não se dão muito bem por motivos óbvios, e Mimi tem a curiosa mania de pegar seu precioso sol bem perto de onde a Margot também gosta de aproveitar o sol pela manhã. Como é perceptível pelas fotos, o sol escolhe um pequeno pedaço do quintal para bater e, bem, às vezes as coisas saem do controle. Um raio de sol nunca foi tão disputado por aqui, principalmente no inverno.

A Mimi, apesar de não ser exclusivamente nossa, é muito querida, assim como nossa vizinha, que é uma senhorinha muito gente boa. Mimi é sua companhia, já que ela mora sozinha e, assim como a Mimi nos visita periodicamente, nós também fazemos questão de sempre parar para conversar um pouco com nossa vizinha. Empatia é algo que cultivamos por aqui.

Mas, bem, as manhãs têm tido um significado bem especial para os pets de todos os lugares e é bem interessante ver como eles têm um prazer quase instintivo de ficar ali apenas curtindo aquele pedaço de momento. Estas fotos foram tiradas esta semana, quando eu voltava da academia e, nesse momento, como eu deixei as portas fechadas ao sair, a Margot, minha cachorra, ainda estava em casa. Então, Mimi aproveitou bem esses últimos momentos de sol antes que a Margot chegasse por ali!
