Akan proverbs: " 'Sorry' does not cure a sore, but it cools it down."
AKAN PROVERB:
"Kos3 nkum kuro, nanso 3dwodwo yea ano".
TRANSLITERATION:
"Pity does not cure a sore, but it cools it down."
MEANING:
Sympathy is no cure, but it helps.
MY COMMENTS:
Sometimes we downplay the significance of an apology. Even sometimes we feel it is woefully inadequate for us to just give a comforting tap on the back to a friend who is in dire circumstances.
We may not always be in the position to be the hero; nor can we remedy every hurt or loss. But being there for someone, in the toughest of times inspires such a precious hope and comfort for the affected. It is those who stand with you in your roughest times who carve their names unto your heart.
So next time you see someone in pain or even when you cause someone hurt; make an effort to sincerely communicate your apology or condolences.
