Yeah...
It's called suggesting
This is how it works. Most people like to think they are in charge. When you complain, it eats at them. You probably make them feel they are incapable or insensitive.
So instead of complaining try, "I think doing this and that would improve things around here." or "I think the house would smell good if we stop hanging out wet towels in the bathroom"
But then, sometimes a disagreement/quarrel is inevitable
