We should control ourselves over carnal pleasures. There is really pleasure in sin. The flesh loves the pleasures of sin. It desires to enjoy these sinful pleasures always. Those who fear God and who want to do the will of God must turn away from sinful pleasures. They must learn to control themselves and put their body under subjection. When the flesh is subject by denying it the carnal pleasures which it craves for, the person will be able to overcome those evil addictions. Addiction comes from the desires of the flesh. The desires of the flesh breeds afflictions. Too much of sinful pleasures weakens our spiritual man.

To overcome these carnal pleasures which are calling us to these sinful habits that we are addicted to, we need to surrender ourselves to obeying the commandments of God. When you obey the commandments of God, your body will lose its power to control you. You will be free from those things that you are addicted to. As a child of God, we must not feed ourselves with these carnal desires. Rather, we should give ourselves to studying the word of God. It is the power in the word of God that will deliver us from the power of addiction.
