Signed. Sealed. Sustained

In order to ensure the Hive borehole projects remain helpful to communities, we established limits for the relationships we built with the people they are benefiting. It's not only about providing water. Sustainability and accountability have identical characteristics. For this reason, we want to make it clear that as long as projects are being well maintained and get the benefits they were intended for, we have done the right things.

A few days ago, we created and shared a formal document with existing and newly established communities with completed Hive boreholes. The document states Hive Blockchain's intentions and acknowledges that while the boreholes belong to Hive, the communities act as stewards of the projects. The document specifies that the success of the boreholes is a shared responsibility, transparency, and good stewardship.

The second part of the document lays out the expectations for how to properly use and maintain the boreholes. Also, it suggests that the communities think of the boreholes as an asset that must be preserved for the betterment of future generations. Another part of the document lays out how to report any problems or faults that may arise, as we want issues to be dealt with promptly to avoid long-term problems. By doing this, we are teaching both the communities and project managers how to work together with the intent of ensuring the sustainability of projects.

To support the relationships and ensure uninterrupted communication, we have appointed representatives within the communities. These representatives act as a bridge between the people and us, provide updates on the state of the boreholes, and allow us to find out quickly if anything arises. The use of these representatives not only strengthens the relationship we have developed with communities but also ensures that Hive's impact is visible and accountable.

Finally, the signing of the agreement document was meaningful. When the community leaders signed the document, in a formalised gesture that included us as project managers, it provided a mutual understanding of a willingness to commit to the document and give an undertaking. This shared accountability fosters trust, enhances management, and cultivates a strong partnership between Hive and the communities. With all of this, we are confident that the Hive boreholes will continue to provide sustainable change to people's lives across Ghana.
