Legislative Term Limits

Joe Biden served 36 years in the U.S. Senate (Grassley is at 38 and counting). That's... uh... too long, in my professional opinion (Biden served for double what I would want from a senator). Here are my guidelines for what we should be seeing from the House of Representatives and the Senate:

• House of Reps:
  • 6 terms, totaling 12 years
  • Representatives cannot return after time has finished
• Senate:
  • 3 terms, totaling 18 years
  • Senators can return after 12 years, but cannot vote on Presidential Appointments, including federal judges

Will this fix the American Republic? Probably not.
Will this stop the bitter political infighting in the House and Senate? Maybe a little.
Will this end the practice of out-of-touch career politicians making up random bullshit and calling it a day? To an extent, sure.

What this will do, I would certainly hope, is show Americans that the U.S. government is willing to restrain itself (something that we've been seeing very little of recently).
