I managed to find a truly unique beetle right in front of my house. To be honest, this was the first time I had ever encountered this particular type of beetle; it had a relatively elongated body and mouthparts resembling those of an ant, but what caught my eye most was its elegant, jet-black color. It had a very hard exoskeleton, especially its wing covers. I couldn't say for sure whether it was dangerous to humans, but judging by its appearance, it likely possessed a painful bite. However, something seemed wrong with this beetle; it appeared extremely weak and didn't even try to flee or fly away when I picked it up. Whenever it felt threatened, it would tuck its legs tightly against its body to feign death, remaining motionless until it felt safe again. I took the opportunity to photograph the beetle from various angles under the light, allowing us to clearly appreciate its unique characteristics.
