¡Hola amigos de HomeSolutions! Hoy les traigo una historia de rescate de dos poltronas. Hace unos días ayudé a una tía que se estaba mudando y estaba a punto de botar estas poltronas, y le dije: Imposible aunque estén un poco sucias, llenas de polvo y con las patas oxidadas las podemos recuperar; ella me dijo encárgate entonces de recuperarlas, mientras termino la mudanza.

Después de sacarles el polvo y limpiarlas, procedí con el principal problema que tenían esas patas viejas y oxidadas que ya habían sucumbido a la humedad y a la orina de “Mau” su mascota traviesa. Fui a la ferretería y conseguí estas lindas y modernas patas en negro mate por un precio de 2,00$ cada una. El total gastado 20$ y no crean que luego de quitar las viejas las bote, tengo pensado recuperarlas, pero haré unas pruebas primero jajaja.
Con un destornillador de estrías, retiré las patas oxidadas (en mi caso, no fue tan simple como desatornillar, los tornillos estaban fijos y como algunos estaban oxidados tenía que hacer bastante fuerza).

Una vez retiradas todas las patas y procedí a colocar las nuevas, estas patas traían sus 4 tornillos así que no fue necesario comprar tornillos. En vez, de cuatro patas le coloque 5 patas para una mayor estabilidad.

¡El cambio fue inmediato! Sólo con esto, el mueble se veía como nuevo, le sugerí a mi tía que podía hacerle un cojín en algún color que contraste para colocarlo en cada mueble. Ella quedó encantada con el resultado y las poltronas pasaron de ser un objeto triste y oxidado a una pieza moderna y funcional. Y todo con una inversión mínima de tiempo y dinero.

Mi propuesta para ustedes siempre será: ¡No Deseches, Transforma!
Esta experiencia me recordó algo muy importante: muchas veces, nuestros muebles no necesitan ser reemplazados, solo necesitan un poco de amor y creatividad.
Si tienes un mueble que ya no te convence, antes de tirarlo o comprar uno nuevo, considera estas sencillas ideas para darle una segunda, tercera o hasta una cuarta oportunidad:

Cambiar las patas: Es un cambio sutil pero que moderniza cualquier mueble de forma radical.
Forrar o pintar: Unas capas de pintura, un papel viníl con textura o tela pueden dar una vida completamente diferente a una cómoda, una estantería o una mesa.
El vinil lo aplique en las sillas y mesa del comedor de mi casa y dieron un cambio total.

Limpieza y mantenimiento: A veces, solo necesitan una buena limpieza, un encerado o aceite para madera para lucir como nuevos.
Cambiar los herrajes: Unos tiradores nuevos (de cuero, latón, o formas geométricas) pueden actualizar totalmente la apariencia de un cajón o puerta.

Hello, HomeSolutions friends! Today I bring you a story about the rescue of two armchairs. A few days ago, I helped an aunt who was moving and was about to throw these armchairs away, and I said to her: “No way! Even though they're a little dirty, covered in dust, and have rusty legs, we can restore them.” She said, “Then take care of restoring them while I finish moving.”

After dusting and cleaning them, I tackled the main problem: those old, rusty legs that had succumbed to moisture and urine from “Mau,” her mischievous pet. I went to the hardware store and found these nice, modern legs in matte black for $2.00 each. The total cost was $20, and don't think that after removing the old ones I threw them away. I plan to salvage them, but I'll do some tests first, ha ha ha.
Using a Phillips screwdriver, I removed the rusty legs (in my case, it wasn't as simple as unscrewing them; the screws were stuck, and since some were rusty, I had to use quite a bit of force).

Once all the legs had been removed, I proceeded to attach the new ones. These legs came with four screws, so there was no need to buy any. Instead of four legs, I attached five for greater stability.

The change was immediate! With this alone, the furniture looked like new. I suggested to my aunt that she could make a cushion in a contrasting color to place on each piece of furniture. She was delighted with the result, and the armchairs went from being a sad and rusty object to a modern and functional piece. And all with a minimal investment of time and money.

My advice to you will always be: Don't throw things away, transform them!
This experience reminded me of something very important: often, our furniture doesn't need to be replaced, it just needs a little love and creativity.
If you have a piece of furniture that you no longer like, before throwing it away or buying a new one, consider these simple ideas to give it a second, third, or even fourth chance:
** Change the legs:** It's a subtle change, but it radically modernizes any piece of furniture.
** Cover or paint:** A few coats of paint, textured vinyl paper, or fabric can give a dresser, bookcase, or table a whole new look.
I applied vinyl to the chairs and table in my dining room, and they were completely transformed.

Cleaning and maintenance: Sometimes, all they need is a good cleaning, waxing, or wood oil to look like new.
Change the hardware: New handles (leather, brass, or geometric shapes) can completely update the look of a drawer or door.
