Hello to all this lovely community of mothers and fathers committed, who not only support their children, but also contribute their knowledge and experiences here, to also learn from their experiences and be the best parents we can for our little ones.
Here in Argentina we are already finishing the school year and with it come the school events and the demonstrations of the activities they developed throughout this journey.
Of course I went to accompany my little one and support him in his achievements, which this year were really outstanding, both his and also of many other children who must strive a little more. And I say this because at the school he attends, there are some children with different characteristics than what we consider normal, but who are equally well received by both teachers and their own classmates.
This is what I like about his school, that everyone is equal in the eyes of the management, although they are very clear that some need a little more attention and they focus on it.
Very different from the impression I had of an experience in the school my older son was attending when the mother of one of his classmates said that her son was epileptic and wanted to give a talk in the classroom about how to act in the case that the child convulsed. The response of the management was: "It is not necessary, here all the children are normal". And while I thought it was good that they considered him "normal", it was inevitable that the little one lived with a condition and that it was important to know how to act in that case.
In his little Argentine school, I have seen children with several syndromes that I do not dare to detail, because I do not know the diagnoses, but it is noticeable by their behaviors and lost looks, that they are children who need a plus, as well as in the time of exits to the therapeutic companions leave with some and give the daily report to the mothers who wait for them outside.
This has seemed beautiful to me since my older son finished his primary there, and that is why I decided that the little one would also take his studies there, because he not only learns sums and letters, but also the importance of social inclusion, which is so lacking in this world.
During the presentations of the end-of-course act, they danced and demonstrated music classes, and look how one of the teachers without any shame helps one of them to be part of the group. Maybe he does not understand it, he may not want to, but deep down it is a lesson for everyone: dare without knowing, accept the other and face what scares us.
I wish there was a bit of this work mystique that I see every day in my son's school all over the world, I think that's how the path to equality that is so widespread would not have so many obstacles.
