Escapadita para Starbucks / A quick pop into Starbucks

It’s been ages since I last popped out on my own just for the sake of it, but this week’s celebrations for my 49th birthday have been so hectic and wonderful that I decided to extend the festivities into the weekend. So yesterday, after lunch, I popped into Starbucks to treat myself to one of their drinks that I absolutely love.

On this outing, I didn’t leave without telling my children, as they knew I was heading towards the Lomas de Zamora area, and my eldest guessed I’d be there, as he knows that in my moments of stress, that’s my safe haven, especially because the flavours there are always linked to happy memories.

When I arrived, the shop was empty, so I could take my time looking at all the options before deciding which one to order, because although my favourite is the vanilla latte, every now and then I like to try the promotional flavour, especially as they often only bring them out seasonally or as a market test.

And that was when, on one of the screens behind the counter, I saw the promotion for the cookies & cream Frappuccino, which also featured the phrase ‘the afternoon break’ – which was exactly what I was looking to do.

The service was quite quick, and as soon as I received my cup marked with my nickname, I went to a small table to enjoy my drink, although the plan was to buy it to take away, as I had to get back to work for the second shift, but then I thought that arriving a few minutes late wouldn’t matter and I stayed seated in the café.

With less than half of it left, I plucked up the courage to head out, as I was torn between staying there or going straight home, but duty called and I drew inspiration from those last few sips of my milkshake to get back to work.

It wasn’t a coffee break, and in fact, the drink didn’t even contain coffee, but it definitely served as the afternoon break they were promoting.
