Remember to Rest
The past 24 hours have been crazy for me. I’ve been to the fair, driven an hour and a half for an interview and two hours to see my fiancé.
Last night I was trying to sleep at my fiancé’s house for two hours before ultimately I gave up and started to make the drive back to where I live and work. I left her house at 1:15AM and ended up pulling off and sleeping on the side of the road at about 2:00AM because I finally got tired. I woke up again at 5:00, feeling like death, and continued the drive. I had to be at work at 8:00AM this morning, you see.
On the second leg of my drive, I got to thinking. Since our trip to London, I haven’t really taken time to slow down and actually rest. I’ve been taking my off days to visit my fiancé, travel and interview for new jobs without taking the time I need to recharge myself. I’m constantly in a state of semi-exhaustion and it’s finally catching up with my health.
So I did a hard thing, I texted my boss at 5:30AM and I asked him for a half day, knowing that I needed sleep to be able to function well today. Thankfully he said yes, and so I slept from when I got home at 6:15AM to 10:45AM. I was able to start the day off on a better foot because I took some needed time to rest.
The moral of this story, take care of yourself. It’s easy to get into a routine of go go go and forget that you need time to heal and recover too.
Have a nice day! MakoLeave Remember to Rest to:
