DFINITY - Envisioning much beyond blockchain

DFINITY, one of the premier blockchain projects, has had a remarkable last few months during which they have established a research center in Zurich and also grew their team to more than 50 members that included the hiring of some of the top cryptographic researchers in the world.

DFINITY's vision is much beyond blockchain. It is trying to build an internet computer that is open, unbounded and able to host autonomous software. In a Recent interview with CNN Money, Dominic Williams was asked about DFINITY's future and also it's competitors. Here's what he had to say;

"When we think of the internet computer, we don't think of it as a competitor to something like Ethereum. I don't think there is a project out there today that is trying to do anything similar to the internet computer. When we are thinking about competitors we are thinking about incumbent clouds and we want to provide an open alternative to the proprietary infrastructures that are in use today, we want to reinvent how software is created, so the people have secure software systems that they can develop in tech for less and we also think about enabling a new internet ecosystem that is more open without platform risk and that'​s where we focus our attention with respect to where we are going."
