Trying out Ant Nest Herbal Tea
Welcome to another blog post on reviewing herbal teas. This time, I am trying Papua Nest or Myrmecodia pendans. Unlike the name, this plants is not an actual ants nest. This plant called Ant Nest because it looks like a nest of ants. Native to south east asia, this plant is commonly found in papua and is quite rare. The locals have claimed this plant has plenty health benefits but is it really? let's find out.
The benefit claims
In Bahasa there are many entries regarding to this plant. A famous Indonesian medical website (webmd-like)claims this ant nest may help with cancer treatment, headache, increasing immunity, and stabilize insulin among many others benefit of nest ant. However, there are less entries and information for this plant in English and little to none research on this trapezoid plant. As I researched more, the entries of this nutrient is a bit vague as there are only supplied by blogs and not from medical authorities. So always take everything with a grain of salt.

The preparation of this tea is pretty simple. I simply follow the instruction behind the packaging. It said to boil 250ml water and 10g ant nest for 15 minutes. Filter the water from it then add honey or sugar if you like. As per the packaging said, you can consume 2-3 times. If the water looks clear, it means you need to replace the nest.
Note from Mac
It's interesting to discover this plant which claimed to help with cancer treatment. I would like to know if there are others out there have tried this plant and has proven its efficacy or having an experience with it. A rule of thumb for me to know if something has an effect is consistently consuming it for 30 days. So, let's see if this plant works as advertised or if it has any effects at all. Taste wise, it's pretty tart. So, adding organic honey or sugar will make it taste better. Let me know in the comment section if you have tried this plant.
