Hello around the world [did you know? series]

Saying Hello to someone has become the ice breaker for any conversation and the basic form of greeting across the world, but in some places Hello might sound strange to us, even if it's not our native language.

For instance Hello in Anglo countries sounds quite similar to the Hola of Latin ones, even Ola for Portuguese, but that is not the case for the Diola dialect in Senegal where they say "aa". Or the Ojibwe in USA and Canada where they say "boozhoo".

Other ways of saying it are"yoga" for the ateso in Uganda

Or "yoyo" in kuakiutl, Canada

In some other cases one word is more than enough for all the greetings and goodbyes you can use during the day, like in Sri Lanka where they say "ayubowan" and that can be used as " good day", "good afternoon", "good night" and "bye"
