The yellow
Another post from another time. I like sharing my photographs even if they are taken on way ago, writing about them later on makes me look at them again and remember the moment.
This time the subject is a group of bright yellow flowers and their small visitors. I noticed them during one of my walks and the color immediately caught my attention. They are from a botanical garden dedicated to sunflower species in Trakya University campus, located in Edirne/Turkiye. The yellow petals were very strong against the blue sky, and visually it felt very clean and simple.
When I moved closer with the camera, I realized the flowers were already busy. Bees were visiting them constantly. They land in the middle, walk around slowly between the pollen, and then suddenly fly away again. Sometimes they stay only a few seconds, so photographing them needs a little patience.
Some of the flowers looked fresh and energetic, with wide open petals. Others were already getting older. Their petals were bending down and the center looked darker and more dry. Still the bees were moving between them without any preference. Old or new, every flower seemed to be part of the same small system.
At one moment a butterfly also joined the scene. It landed very lightly on one of the flowers. The wings had small orange spots and the sunlight was passing through them beautifully. It stayed only a short time but it added another small character to this yellow world.
While photographing, I tried to keep the background simple so the flowers and insects can stand out more. The blue sky helped a lot with this.
All the best…
