Canela's love

A warm hello to all my friends in this lovely community. I’m delighted to be here with you to share my adventures with Canela.

Canela is a mixed-breed poodle who came into my arms when she was two months and thirteen days old. She turned seven on 10 March. And I can tell you that ever since Canela came into our home, she has filled it with magic and love.

Although I once had a large dog that used to run all over the garden, my daughter Luz Helena was very afraid of him and would get very nervous whenever he came near. Eventually Zeus passed away, and at that point I thought that a small dog might provide emotional support for my daughter, helping her to overcome her fears and feel less alone.

I told my family and friends that if they heard of a small dog in need of a home, they should let me know straight away – and that’s exactly what happened.

When the day came to collect Canela, it was raining heavily, but I managed to get to the place where she was to be handed over to me. The connection between her and me was instant. She clung to me affectionately and looked at me with her little eyes full of light. Later, when I met my daughter at a shopping centre, I handed Canela over to her and she cuddled her close in her arms.

Later, when we got home, Canela stayed in my daughter’s arms for the rest of the day. When night fell, we set up a little bed for her, but she kept following me around, so I had to put the bed in my room, and that’s how she fell asleep without crying. From that moment on, Canela made me realise that she had already chosen her human, and it was ME.

Although Canela spends a lot of time with my daughter, she always prefers to be wherever I am. She was so tiny that when she was crawling on the floor, we had to walk very carefully for fear of stepping on her.

Ever since then, we haven’t been able to live without each other. We have plenty of adventures to tell you about and lots of stories to share with all animal lovers.
