I Think The Rains Are Finally Here!
I recall that in times past, planting activities would have started in earnest by this time of the year because the rains often start out early in the year, around January, but we've experienced a phenomenal change in recent years. This change, can be traced to the climate change has impacted the the season of rainfall. It's effect is now late rainfalls, leading to delayed planting and cultivation activities.
Although there has been records of rainfall this year, but it hasn't been regular as expected, rather it's been followed by periods of dry spells. But there's been a slight change in the pattern this week. Yesterday, there was another heavy downpour, making it the third time for this week.
I feel grateful for the rain because not only was it a welcome respite from the scorching heat of previous days, farmers, especially those who took advantage of the first rain that fell some weeks ago to plant crops like okra, pumpkin vegetable, corn, etc, can now heave a sigh of relief that the crops won't be destroyed by drought.
Some farmers, out of fear of losing these young crops to drought had sought to alternative means of providing water to them.
One of such farm is the okra farm which I captured in this video while I was on palm fruit hunting. 😂. I've been craving roasted palm fruits for a while now, so yesterday upon returning from work, I went in search for some at a nearby farmland that had palm-trees. Thankfully, I was able to find some and how excited I was.
I also stumbled on a mushroom which I took snapshots of too. Mushrooms have been on sabbatical since the dry season. But seeing this one is an evidence that the rains are finally here. 😅. Let it rain.
After a hectic day, there was no better way to unwind than taking this evening stroll around my natural environment At the end, I felt refreshed and rejuvenated. More so, I was grateful for the rain which watered the lands and made the weather cool, the thriving okra farm, and the palm fruits I picked - that's a good bye to the craving, lol.
I'm grateful for the beauty of nature which I see everyday.
