Matt's poem
"Matt's Poem"
Why am I falling in love with you?
It is in the way you looked at me the first time we met.
Like I was coming home to a house that longed for my footsteps on its floors, my reflection in its windows, my fingertips dancing along its banisters...
Your arms stretched wide like mansion doors and I waltz into your great hall.
It is how easy it is to be around you.
To be me, around you.
I can let you inside my walls,
show you my cobwebs and peeling paint and know that you will love them all.
I feel like I'm being restored from dilapidation instead of covered up, careful hands and deliberate work.
Or your voice? Oh, your voice.
Your sweet cadences calm me, Symphonies that caress my soul,
Churning seas go still and everything is soft and delicate, calm and peaceful.
I can breathe without drowning, gently floating along the surface.
You are all the flower petals I ever wished for love on.
You are all the sweet songs I never understood.
You are warmth and peace and fireworks.
You are my lighthouse. You will light our path and I will run anywhere you are.
