Some Orthodox descriptions which see the environment as only a conglomerate of physical factors have been long disproven, the Environment is a mixture of physical, socio-cultural conditions under which humans thrive.
The Environment has three basic components:
- physical components
- biological
- social
The physical components are the basic necessities for life to exist, I.e (water, air, soil) etc.
The biological include all fauna and flora that thrive on thr face of the earth.
The social components encompasses all human beings, social activities, religion, culture and economics, these are the human components of the environment which evolve alongside human beings.
The Human environment comprises of man, his artifical creations, and the symbiotic relationship between them.
Environmental sanitation
Environmental Sanitation plays a critical role in improving the quality of life for all humans.
Sanitation practices improve mental health, emotional health, reduces stress and anxiety.
Sanitation is necessary and is a prerequisite to maintain good health.
Good housing is a key component of health as far as health promotion is concerned.
A Clean environment matters because ;
a clean environment minimizes the risk to pollutants, viruses and harmful bacteria thereby reducing illness.
a clean environment has the ability to ameliorate the symptoms of diseases and so on.
How to maintain a clean environment
1)Planting trees in the environment to boost the air quality
2)Proper waste disposal
- personal hygiene
4)community clean-up
5)proper sanitation
Caring for the environment is the most powerful form of preventive medicine.
