Assisi
The birthplace of St. Francis is a very nice medieval city on a hill, surrounded by a five-kilometer fortress wall. The city has three levels: the Basilica of St. Francis stands apart, a little higher - the old city, and on top of the hill - a large fortress. The fortress is not as interesting as the views that open from its walls: the city and its environs.
