A Game of Tricks
This pulp fiction cover shows a big city detective who travels to a small coastal town to uncover the mystery of a missing museum piece. Hired by a strange (and highly alluring) woman, he uncovers a truth too fantastic to believe.
While this story only exists in my head, I wrote an imaginary excerpt for the generated premise.
Marlene ripped a piece of her red dress to bandage the detective's wound.
“What was that thing?" she said panting. "It was so thick and slippery.”
Holton groaned when she applied slight pressure on the burning skin.
“They’re giant nasty jellyfishes is what they are,” he said shaking his head. “Spawns of unholy evil. Those tentacles carry wicked poison. I’m lucky it only gave me a quick kiss.”
“There isn’t any fresh water around here,” said Marlene looking down at his wounded limb. “Is there anything else I can do to clean the wound?”
“Well perhaps, there is another method but-“
A light illuminated the darkness, followed by a tearing sound that ripped and tore the fish shed in a flash of lightning.
“Quick!” he said with a grunt. “Let’s get to the shelter. The cultists are near.”
"What about the balls?" she asked him.
"That'll have to wait a little longer. Come, let's hurry!"
