The Kindness Code - Poems That Inspire Kindness

Sometimes kindness is expressed and more evident in poetry.

Lines of dull prose can be prosaic in comparison with a personally penned, pithy poem.

Fewer words can sometimes hit the target of truth faster and with sure shot accuracy.

So why not take a moment, dear Steemians, breathe and relax while I share some short but inspiring modern classics.

You can't beat a good guy like Jacob Nordby for cutting through the bs and diving straight into the heart of the matter. And boom...he nails it here...

Next up we have a piece of penpersonship from the lovely Jeanne Willis from her Wild Child series, where she sums up everything that's wrong with our current education models in a mere minute with this heart felt plea for us to honour the wildness, the untameability of a childhood lived in harmony with the forces of Nature.

This next poem by Erin Hanson is a beautiful summation of how we have all become Human Doings instead of Human BEings. And in our hectic, frenetic world the business of busyness, where time is money, there are few pauses where we can just stare at the sky, get lost in the passing of the clouds, appreciate the stars, gaze at the moon and just BE with our own thoughts or be grateful for the gifts of nature around us.

And finally we need a little ditty to make us smile and who better than to turn to Spike Milligan, one of the original Goons and comic genius extraordinaire?

Smiles

Smiling is infectious
You catch it like the 'flu

When someone smiled at me today
I started smiling too

I walked around the corner
And someone saw me grin

When he smiled I realised
I had passed it on to him

I thought about the smile
And then realised it's worth

A single smile like mine
Could travel round the earth

So if you feel a smile begin
Don't leave it undetected

Start an epidemic
And get the whole world infected😊
