Bill Maher Attacks Cryptos

Not the Bitcoin Jesus

I like Bill Maher, but I don´t take him serious. 😎
He´s one of the few liberal Liberals left in the USSA, who doesn´t want to cancel everybody and their mother for hate speech and thought crime, but he´s probably also a corporate shill.
The funny thing is that some of his points against crypto can also be made against fiat currency (created out of thin air, based on trust and belief), but he´s just not enough of an economist to get that.
But his killer argument is of course the ecological aspect of electricity consumed for mining. My guess is, if he even ever had heard about proof-of-stake, he of course won´t bring that one up because it doesn´t fit his rhetoric.

And J.G. Collins of Seeking Alpha fame has this dire warning to issue:

"Bitcoin investors should beware: Bill Maher's Friday night clarion call against the wasteful use of electricity by cryptos could morph into a tipping point calling for them to be banned. And with government officials, most notably Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, already hostile to bitcoin, environmentalism may be precisely the pretext needed to carry out stiff restrictions or even a ban on private cryptos."

After Corinna, the next excuse for the implementation of ever more authoritarian measures will be climate change.


But, all my ranting aside, just watch Bill´s video, it´s funny nevertheless.
