To use the Photoshop pattern file:
Prepare your document in Adobe Photoshop. Make sure you have the Window Patterns palette visible. In the little hamburger menu on the Patterns palette, select Import Patterns … Choose your .pat file, click Open. Go to Edit > Fill Pattern and select the pattern. Adjust any settings to your preferences, then click OK.
