Este pez conocido como jurel es visto en nuestra costas venezolanas, ya que en los meses de abril , mayo y junio llega la Zafra de remonte en nuestros hermosos mares, las mayorías de las pescas de estos peces se realiza artesanalmente en un técnica de pesca llamada manga, consisten en un tren de redes tendidas en forma de semi cuadro, donde entra el pescado , luego que el pescado se encuetre dentro del semi cuadro es trancado con otras redes y arribado con otro tipo de redes llamado copo. La cantidad de peces jureles extraídos en las costas venezolanas por año pasa las mil toneladas , con este valioso producto del mar podemos preparar ricas recetas y platillos en nuestra dieta nacional.
