The Nigerian Process for Making Moi-Moi

Good morning Foodies on Hive, I hope we are enjoying ourselves. As for me I'm having the sweetest day ever. That's why I decided to make me some Moi-Moi to go with it.

On this post I'll be taking you on steps by steps on how to make a delicious meal called Moi-Moi. This meal is loved by all, because it's very unique, and can be taken at any time, Breakfast, lunch or dinner. This meal can be taken with some other food such as rice or Pap.
There is a special beans used for making moi-moi in Nigeria, but you can substitute it with any other type of beans if you're staying outside the country.

Steps on how to make Moi-Moi

This Moi-Moi is by out of Beans, over here in Nigeria beans is been cultivated in the northern part of Nigeria, that's where it grows very well.

Step one

You have to put the beans in a big clean washing bowl, and soak it for about 15 minutes. But Most people don't soak their beans in water before washing it, they just sprinkle water on them. whichever way you feel is faster and better for you, You can use.
Once you're done sucking it, you can now start washing it by pealing out the back of the beans.

As your washing the beans by squeezing with your hands, you have to sieve it to remove the shaft from the beans, just as it's shown on the picture. this will make your beans come out very clean.

Step two

After your done washing the beans, you can now add some ingredients such as onions, perpe and tomatoes, like some people don't add tomatoes but I do add tomatoes to my Moi-Moi because I love the taste it brings with it.

Yes it's ready for grinding. By using a grinding machine. You can now go to a commercial grinding mill. You can also use a smart blender for this if you have one.

Step three

After your done grinding your beans, then it's time to add up some ingredients again, and then mixed it very well.

Here are the ingredients I used for this recipe. You are free to increase the quantity/quality or reduce it depending on the number of persons you are looking to serve, And also how you want your moi-moi to tested.

Ingredients used

  1. Half cup of vegetable oil/Palm oil
  2. 2 seasoning cubes
  3. Salt to taste.
  4. Onions
  5. Crayfish
  6. 3 cups of beans
  7. Tomatoes (Optional)
  8. Perpe.
  9. Water.
