UNESCO biosphere reserve forest visit / Biosphärenreservat Waldbesuch

Today I would like to take you on a visit to the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Brandenburg. It is located northeast of Berlin and covers about 130 000 hectares.
It is one of over 660 UNESCO Biosphere Reserve worldwide. One half of the area consists of forest, the other half of lakes and swamp.
Heute möchte ich euch auf einen Besuch im UNESCO Biosphärenreservat in Brandenburg mitnehmen. Es liegt nordöstlich von Berlin und umfasst ca. 130 000 Hektar.
Es ist eines von über 660 UNESCO Biosphärenreservaten weltweit. Die eine Hälfte des Gebiets besteht aus Wald, die andere aus Seen und Sumpf.
The people living there live and work in harmony with nature. In national parks, nature is left to its own devices; in biosphere reserves, ecological and sustainable management is practiced.
Die dort ansässigen Menschen leben und arbeiten im Einklang mit der Natur. In Nationalparken wird die Natur sich selbst überlassen, in Biosphärenreservaten wird das ökologische und nachhaltige Wirtschaften praktiziert.
The quiet, sparsely populated land is the habitat of many endangered species of plants and animals that need undisturbed spaces. In the semi-natural forests brood, sea eagle, lesser spotted eagle, crane and black stork breed. Beavers and otters are spread all over the reserve. Here are still extensive forests, with huge pine forests and ancient oaks, the biosphere reserve is home to large undressed lowland beech forests
Das stille, dünnbesiedelte Land ist Lebensraum vieler vom Aussterben bedrohter Tier- und Pflanzenarten, die ungestörte Räume brauchen. In den naturnahen Wäldern brüten See-, Fisch- und Schreiadler, Kranich und Schwarzstorch. Biber und Fischotter sind über das ganze Schutzgebiet verbreitet. Hier finden sich noch ausgedehnte Wälder, mit riesigen Kiefernwäldern und uralten Eichen beherbergt das Biosphärenreservat große unzerschnittene Tiefland-Buchenwälder
