Anytime, Dear!
"Thanks for taking me to the estate sale, honey," my wife said to me. "Anytime dear. Anytime," I replied. Especially when the estate sale features a vintage, 10 troy ounce bar of .999 fine silver, beautifully toned with 50+ years of age.
That, my fellow stackers, is a poured bar produced by the United States Silver Corporation sometime from the late 1960's until the mid 1970's.
The U.S. Silver Corp. was located in Van Nuys, California, at 5627 Sepulveda Boulevard. The company was incorporated in 1958, and changed its name to Continental Coin Corporation in 1978.
Apparently the company is known for silver rounds, with eagle obverses and reverses featuring maps of either the globe or North America. They are also known for producing 1 Ounce art bars. For example, eBay has a listing for a 1 ounce bar celebrating the San Diego Zoo 1916 - 1973. Most of their poured bars are in the 5 to 10 ounce sizes, but they also poured larger bars. Apmex is currently selling a 100 ounce bar.
I couldn't find any more details about this company, or about this bar, but I'm sure happy I didn't gripe about taking my wife to another estate sale.
All images are mine. Have a blessed Easter, y'all!
