My Actifit Report Card: April 2 2022

A few days ago I started to feel slightly unwell, just tired with a sore throat. Nothing that prevented my normal site seeing, but it has brought my mood down slightly. So I’ve taken it slightly easy, not walking as much as I’d have liked. Already I feel a lot better and I’m sure tomorrow I’ll be mended.

I took another full look at the Res Gestae, which was written by Augustus and printed after his death across the kingdom. As expected it’s a proud piece of propaganda. Set as a reminder of his almost god like achievements, as well as his personal sacrifice to the empire.

He’s probably the most powerful yet mysterious historical figure. Apart from commissioned poems, this and buildings, there aren’t any surviving written records.

He reigned for over 40 years, living to 75. At the time of his death, there would have mass hysteria. A figure that ruled over generations and defined the empire itself.
