BAD PARENTING, GOOD PARENTING
When it comes to parenting, one thing I have discovered is that there is no manual, no book or journal that would teach you how to be a good parent. A lot of the time parents do what they think is right for their child and end up making mistakes because their decisions ended up causing harm instead of good. But do these things make them bad parents?. Personally, I do not think so, I strongly believe that our mistakes do not define us as humans and thus it shouldn’t define us as parents.
Although I am not a parent yet, I have already made a number of mistakes that affected my own life negatively. I also have parents whose decisions have affected me both negatively and positively. I used to judge and hate my parents for the negative decisions, but as I grew older, I realized the weight of responsibility and how it can affect our decisions. The fact still remains that both parents and children will never see things from the same lens. The child would never know the pain and sacrifice of being a parent until they become one, and the parent would not just see things from the child’s perspective because they know things are not just simple.
For me a good parent is a parent whose decisions are based on the welfare of their child whether the result is good or bad. A bad parent is a parent who dismisses the welfare of their child in their decisions and are only interested in their selfish desires and sometimes how to use their child to fulfill those desires. It’s funny how humans can be cruel to their own children and are still selfish even towards them. This to main is the main ingredient that constitutes a bad parent.
